An Oregon Company is Enabling Volcano Bathing: Harnessing the Power of Lava to Detoxify Heavy Metals Such as Mercury and Lead
Ready to detox? Lava Love detoxifying clay bath products are infused with Bentonite and Zeolite—volcanic ash that carries a negative charge. This is crucial because many toxins, like heavy metals, are positively charged. When you use Lava Love clay products those positively charged toxins – such as mercury – bind to the negatively charged clays and are removed from you.
And they were kind enough to give us code LAVALOVE7 to use as half off on all their products through Sunday!
Lava Love Exfoliating Volcano Soap, founded by entrepreneur Elisabeth Dunham, combines organic ingredients with detoxifying volcanic minerals.
At the heart of Lava Love’s formula lies bentonite clay, sourced from volcanic ash. This remarkable clay possesses absorbent and detoxifying properties, effectively binding to toxins like heavy metals and pollutants, leaving your skin purified and cleansed.
Lava Love also incorporates zeolite, a volcanic mineral known for its unique cage-like molecular structure. Zeolite not only binds to toxins but also eliminates them from the surface of the skin, providing a refreshing and rejuvenating effect.
Pumice, a volcanic rock, takes center stage in Lava Love’s exfoliating soap. Its rough, textured surface gently removes dead skin cells, unveiling a softer and smoother complexion. With the perfect combination of pumice, bentonite, and zeolite, Lava Love offers an invigorating cleanse like no other.
Here’s Elisabeth’s account of how Lava Love began:
“A few years ago, I stumbled into an unexpected obsession: soap making. This journey led me to create a life-changing product, all thanks to my discovery of bentonite clay.
During a juice cleanse, I noticed how bentonite clay helped with detox symptoms and got the idea to craft a whole line of bath products featuring this detoxifying clay. Bentonite is a magnetic clay that binds to toxins like heavy metals and environmental pollutants. When used in a bath, it draws these nasties out of your pores, giving your body a detoxifying cleanse. This clay has been a lifesaver in my battle with Lyme disease, which is often treated by eliminating pathogenic and environmental toxins.
The first product that came to mind was soap. I imagined it being thick and creamy like clay and heavy cream but also sandy and exfoliating. In my head, I could practically feel the perfect blend, and it was all I could think about. Oregon’s volcanic soil is rich in volcanic ash, and I wondered if we had our own version of bentonite clay. (Spoiler alert: we do!) At that time, I was in a product development haze, convinced I had to bring this idea to life. The name “Lava Love” came to me like a sign, and I couldn’t shake the idea of creating “volcano soap.”
It all came together one weekend in Bend, Oregon, at my friend’s ranch. Volcanic rocks and lava were scattered everywhere—gravel in the driveway, big lava rocks along the roads, and the iconic volcanoes in the distance, like the Three Sisters and Black Butte. Inspired by my surroundings, I grabbed some driveway rocks, darted to a craft store, and started cooking up soap in the ranch kitchen. What a vacation activity: whipping up soap in Central Oregon! My friend and boyfriend were not thrilled.
The first batch looked like something the Flintstones would use—blue, lumpy, and not pleasant to touch. But back in Portland, I added a mix of volcanic ash, bentonite, zeolite, and pumice, and Lava Love finally came to life.
These pumice-like, sandy, and creamy bars became a hit, and soon, I was sharing them with everyone I knew. They immediately fell in love with this scratchy, silky soap I’d envisioned back at the ranch.
Every day, I’m grateful to have received this gift from the universe. Lava Love is my way of helping this toxic world detox in a fun and relaxing way. It’s essential to detoxify—city water, air pollution, and the food supply are full of toxins that can harm our health if we don’t take action. Lava Love is here to help reduce that toxic load, letting us enjoy a cleaner, healthier life.”
